Patrick County Autism Team

The Patrick County Public Schools Autism Team provides specialized support to students identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across the division. The team collaborates with school-based staff, families, and service providers to ensure that students with autism receive appropriate, individualized educational programming aligned with their IEP goals.

Key functions include conducting autism-specific evaluations and eligibility determinations, providing consultation and coaching to teachers and paraprofessionals on evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies, supporting the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and assisting with programming decisions such as least restrictive environment considerations and transition planning.

The team also plays a role in staff training, particularly around structured teaching approaches, social skills development, communication supports, and de-escalation strategies for students with complex behavioral profiles.
